Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple also known as Subergin Temple is situated on the shore of Arabian Sea at Kavi kamboi, Jambusar, Gujarat. The Temple is one of the unusual shiva Temple of India. Most unusual about the temple is that the Temple is get totally submerged into the Sea during high tide and again start to emerge while low tide.
This Shiva Temple is 150 years old Swaymbhu Shiva Temple. This Disappearing Shiva Temple submerged in the sea two times in a day. Once in the Morning then in Night. The Mother Nature offers Jal Abhishek to the Shivling. The Legend of the Temple is associated with Lord Kartikey, the Son of Lord Mahadeva. Lord Kartikey killed demon Taraksur. Tarakasur was the demon who killed the people and drink their blood. Since Tarakasur was a devotee of Lord Shiva, Kartikey felt guilty. Lord Vishnu suggest them to put Lord Shiva's three Shivlingas for worship. One of them is laid down at Kavi Kamboi.
Another interesting thing about the Temple is that people worshipped the Shivlinga with oil in spite of Milk. Sabarmati river is also submerged with the Arabian sea at this place. Thousand of devotee visit the temple to fulfil the wish and for good luck. This Temple is situated 170 km away from Surat, 81 km from Bharuch and 75 km from Vadodara.
