Jaisalmer, worldwide known as The Golden City is located near to India Pak border and close to the Thar Dessert. Jaisalmer was found in the 12th Century by King Rawal Jaisal. This Town called Golden City majorly due to the yellow sandstone used to built structure of all part. Jaipur is well connected by Road and Train via Jodhpur with major cities. Explore the Jaisalmer Fort
Jaisalmer also known as Sonar Quilla was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal and considered among the largest fort of the world. Yellow sandstone offered a golden look to the Fort in sunshine as well as in night lighting. The Fort is constructed in the classical work of royal by local craft man. The form is UNESCO heritage site. One can also do local shopping and get local cuisine taste surrounding the Fort.
Visit the Gadisar Lake
Gadisar Lake is constructed by Maharawal Gadsi Singh in the 14th Century to cop up water requirement of the Town. Small Temple and Shrine also built surrounding the Lake to make it Pilgrimage place and to attract tourist. This Water bodies has boating facilities also. Sunset boating is memorable experience here.
Jain Temple
Jain Temple is situated in the Fort built in 12th and 15th centuries. This temple is also carved with yellow sandstone. The Temple is built in fame style of Delvara Temple situated at Mount Abu.
Bada Baugh
Bada Baugh is situated 6 kms away from main town. This Garden also have the Chhatris or Royal cenotaphs of king of Jaisalmer as well as of Raja Jai Singh II. Bada Baugh means Big Garden also a place to view beautiful sunset.
Sam Sand Dunes
Dessert safari in Jaisalmer is one of the iconic activities while visiting the Jaisalmer. Many service providers have luxury tent house & camp site in the Dessert and also organised culture performance, camel safari and Jeep Safari. Moreover, Camel Ride in dessert make the tour complete.
Tourist also enjoy the sunset view in this Thar Dessert. Rajasthan Tourism also organised the Dessert festival during the month of February. Rajasthani Folk dance, camel races and other event are conducted during the Festival. Parasailing also done by the many service providers.
Tanot Mata Temple
This Temple is situated 120 kms far way from Jaisalmer. During India Pakistan war in 1965, many bomb and explosive dropped at Temple but non of them is fired in the Temple. One can also seen this bomb in the museum.Tourist can visit the Temple after proper documentation. today BSF trust is maintaining the Temple.
The Heritage Museum
Jaisalmer Government Museum is situated in the main market of the Town. The museum display history, culture, rock cut crockery, sea fossil, Jewellery, statue from the 7th and 9th century etc.
Nathmal Ki Haveli
This Haveli is built by two architect brothers. They worked in Haveli from two opposite site and made a beautiful monument. It has a beautiful outside carving as well as eye catching interior work inside.
Kuldhara the Ghost Town
History of Kuldhara increase the curiosity to visit it. Behind the abandoned ghost town many belief is associated. It is said that then minister want to marry the chief's daughter for which give ultimatum to the Village Chief. But Villager didn't accept his demand, whole villager move away. Kuldhara located about 18 Kms away from the Jaisalmer & abandoned by the villager in the year 1800.
Entire town is became empty in the single night and no one know where they went. to revel this mystery many tourist came here to visit the place.
Ramdev Temple
This Temple is located near the Pokhran on the Jodhpur~Jaisalmer Highway. The Temple is dedicated to the Saint Baba Ramdevji. it attracts large number of devotee form all over the India.
Moreover other attraction in the Jaisalmer are War Museum, Salim Singh ki Haveli, Patwo ki Haveli etc.
